You breathe tens of thousands of times a day without thinking — yet you can take the wheel whenever you choose.

Almost everything your body does to keep you alive runs without conscious command. Breathing runs automatically but also accepts voluntary control. That dual control makes it a direct route into a physiological rhythm.

Deliberate breath control has long appeared in contemplative traditions, including pranayama. Modern research can test mechanisms and short-term effects without turning an entire tradition into a scientific claim.
